A Bessemer man accused of killing his 79-year-old wife has been bound over to circuit court. Fifty-year-old Kenneth Wayne Peters is charged with first-degree murder, second-degree murder, and second-degree abuse of a vulnerable adult. Gogebic County Judge Anders Tingstad ruled Thursday there was enough evidence in the case to hold a trial. Ethel Grzena Peters was last seen August 3 in Bessemer. Her body was found ten days later in Watersmeet Township. Arraignment is set for October 9 in Gogebic County Circuit Court.

The jury in the murder trial of a Bessemer man has returned a verdict: guilty.
The decision against Kenneth Peters, 50, was reached Wednesday night in Gogebic County Circuit Court.
He was charged with first- and second-degree murder and second-degree abuse of a vulnerable adult in the death of his 79-year-old wife, Ethel Grzena-Peters. She was last seen August 3 in Bessemer. Her body was found ten days later in Watersmeet Township.
A sentencing date has not yet been set.

A Bessemer man convicted of killing his elderly wife has been sentenced. Kenneth Peters, 50, was given life in prison without the possibility of parole Wednesday in Gogebic County Circuit Court. Peters was convicted May 1 of first- and second-degree murder and second-degree abuse of a vulnerable adult. The body of his 79-year-old wife Ethel was found in Watersmeet Township last August. Peters must also pay more than $3,000 in court costs.
